Open Approach

Committed to Open Standards and Web Technologies

Kony is committed to open standards and web technologies like HTML, JavaScript, and CSS. KonyOne is built on open standards and makes it easy for you to use the technologies you prefer.

KonyOne is also the only non-proprietary platform without the risk of vendor lock-in. We're so confident you won't want to leave us, that we make it easy for you to go.

Committment to Openness

Openness has been built into KonyOne from the ground up. We believe in giving you the flexibility to make design decisions rather than limit your technology options.

We also believe you shouldn't have to worry about vendor lock-in or have to edit native code to make up for limitations in vendor tools. Kony provides a complete and incredibly productive development environment.

Complete Environment

KonyOne is a complete environment built on open standards to support the entire software development life cycle.

Unlike proprietary platforms, KonyOne doesn't make you edit code outside the KonyOne Studio. KonyOne generates complete binaries with metadata ready for submission to employee and consumer app stores. KonyOne also provides unit testing, debugging, and profiling tools.

Proprietary tools require code editing after generation which often results in tool abandonment because subsequent generation overwrites your work.

Foreign Function Interface (FFI)

KonyOne lets you extend the Kony API using FFI. FFI lets you use third-party libraries or your own proprietary technology within KonyOne.

FFI lets you use:

  • Custom UI widgets
  • Third-party workflows like barcode scanners, augmented reality, and diagnositc sensors
  • Non-UI libraries such as security libraries, JavaScript utility libraries, or your own proprietary libraries written in native languages
  • New native OS features not in the Kony API such as brand new device hardware during OS beta testing.

Native Code Generation

KonyOne lets you generate human readable native code so you don't have to worry about vendor lock-in. You can take your intellectual property out and continue development the old fashioned way - with a device-by-device approach.

We hope you never use this feature, but it's here as a commitment to our openness and because we're confident you'll want to continue working with us.
